Blog 13: 10 Hour Mentorship Check-In

http://isabelfoxenduke.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/exercise.jpg

1.   Where are you doing your mentorship?

We've been doing a variety of things from working on dieting and what to exercise with to actually going out for runs.

2.   Who is your contact?  What makes this person an expert?

My contact is my uncle. He worked for Bally's fitness for many years this gave him the qualifications to be a mentor for this.

3.   How many  hours have you done during the school year? (Summer Mentorship Hours and Mentorship Hours should be reflected separately in your Senior Project Hours log located on the right hand side of your blog).

16 hours summer hours. 11 hours form Mentorship. And currently 5 hours for IC #1. In total that is 32 hours total.

4.   Succinctly summarize what you did, how well you and your mentor worked together, and how you plan to complete the remaining hours.

With my first mentor we had a good bond however after time we lost the connection due to too many complications and he could no longer be my mentor, now with my second mentor we have a great relationship since he is family. To complete the rest of my hours I need to combine dieting, physical exercise (when I recover), and just working more with my uncle.

Blog 2 - Summer Mentorship

1.List the contact name, phone number, and organization of the person with whom you volunteered.

  • Kassandra Diaz
    • Phone Number kept private for personal reasons, however her email is marchmommy2012@gmail.com

2. What qualified this person as an expert in your topic choice?

  • Her being a single mother, she has the qualifications to show me the ways on how to care for a child.

3. List three questions for further exploration now that you've completed your summer hours.

  • What is the proper way to discipline a child?
  •  How can someone treat a child with the respect that an adult gives to one another?
  • What is the way to get a child to respect the authority of another adult who isn't from their family?

4. What is the most important thing you gained from this experience? Why?

  • The most important thing that I gained from this experience is patience when it comes to taking care of a child. When taking care of a child it is important to maintain a calm and caring attitude, that way the child/children don't feel scared or develop anger towards the care taker.

5. What is your senior project topic going to be?  How did mentorship help you make your decision?  Please explain.

  • My senior project may be on how to be a daycare worker. This mentorship helped me get used to working with a child, however in the daycare situation there are multiple children that need to be taken care of. I still need work when it comes to handling multiple children at one time.
