Blog 7 - Second Interview Preparation

1.  Who is your mentor and where do they work?  If their workplace does not reflect their expertise, what makes them an expert?

My mentor is Danny, my first interviewee. Danny works at a UFC Gym in Riverside.

2.  What five questions will you ask them about their background?

  1. How long have you been in the professional world of mixed martial arts?
  2. What sparked your passion for MMA?
  3. What does MMA mean to you?
    • Does this conflict with the professional view?
  4. Do you feel that MMA can be for everyone or only a select few who have the patience for it?
  5. How deep does MMA run into your family?

Blog 6 - Advisory Prep

1. What has worked well for you concerning senior project this year?  What has made it a positive experience for you?

I guess what has worked for me regarding the project is the amount of time we've had to make up anything we've needed to with changing topics. As for what has made this a positive experience...I don't know really.

2. What are you finding difficult concerning senior project?  How can you adapt to make that portion work better for you?  How might the senior team help?

One of the most difficult parts of the project is managing people in your project. I personally find it incredibly difficult to get a hold of people since I have to: find someone close by, free, and willing to help. I rarely manage to get anyone willing to help. How the senior team can help.......I have no ideas how the senior team can help.

Blog 5 - Interview 1 Reflection

http://thumbs.dreamstime.com/z/interview-checklist-job-candidate-requirements-qualifications-must-possess-clipboard-including-experience-communication-35557311.jpg

1. What is the most important thing I learned from the interview?  Is there anything I would do differently for other interviews?

In my opinion, the most important thing that I learned from this interview to have a proper interviewing environment and to be a bit more vocal when it comes to explaining my questions if necessary. As previously said I would try and meet in an office or somewhere with little to no noise interfearence.

2. Did I get additional resources and contacts?  What is the most useful?  Why?

I was recommended to a couple of different trainers and fighters. The most useful is the gym trainers because they most likely have more insight as to the fitness aspect of mixed martial arts.

3. What makes my interviewee qualified to help me?

My interviewee, Danny, was qualified to help me as he has been in the world of MMA for a long time and as a professional trainer he would know what goes into using MMA for fitness.

Since I've switched my topic to MMA, what I want to accomplish from this project is being able use my rekindled passion for MMA to find a way to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Since my project is relating to using MMA for fitness. I hope that I'll be able to actually be healthy from learning more about health and fitness.

Blog 3 - First Interview Preparation

http://careerconnectionsnh.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/interview.png

1. Who do you plan to interview? Why?

I'm hoping to interview Joseph Hannibal, painting professor at Cal Poly Pomona. His credentials as a professional painter would be helpful to understanding the art world a little bit better.

2. Five questions will be assigned to all seniors to ask.  What additional questions do you plan to ask?  Ask open-ended questions.

In addition to the five questions given by the teachers:
  1. I'm interested in studying art. What can you tell me about it?
  2. From your perspective, what could I study that would be significant to other people?
  3. Who else would you recommend I talk to?
  4. What kind of places or activities do you recommend I do for the mentorship component?
  5. What materials should I read in this field? Who else can I interview?
I plan to ask the following questions:
  • How have you fought artist block?
  • Tell me about your favorite art style/styles.
